Pricing Guides

Below are listed several online auto price guides. The information within these guides is presented to assist you in assessing the value of your own or another vehicle.

The coverage, presentation and method by which the vehicle values are determined and/or displayed. for this reason, whenever possible, it is best to use more than one source in assessing the value of any vehicle and then evaluate the combined results to assign a final value.

Many of the guides listed below also provide reviews, buying guides, and other consumer product information. Nor is this list comprehensive; there are other sites with similar databases; however, the ones listed here are among the most popular and comprehensive.

Finally, note that most of these price guides as well as a several others (such as The Old Car Price Guide) are available in printed format either at the newsstand and/or by subscription.

Collector Car Trader Online
This guides takes an unusual approach. You enter a year, make, model and optional region, and it returns the high, low and average prices for similar cars within its database of current ads.

CPI Price Guide (on Hemmings)
The CPI guide alloys value searches back to 1945 by multiple make and model. Of the three levels presented in the printed edition (Fair, Good, and Excellent), only the middle value is displayed online. This is only of marginal value to some users.

IntelliChoice
This site provides pricing on both new and used vehicles as well as other auto-related info. The pricing database can be searched by a very wide variety of options including year, body style, EPA ratings, horsepower, and other features.

Kelley Blue Book
Kelley provides detailed evaluations for both retail and trade-in value by make and model for cars up to 20 years of age. New car price information is also available.

NADA Guides
These are very detailed (and more time-consuming to use) guides for car prices as far back as 1930. Prices are provided by year, make and model with allowance for special options. There are also guides for vans, trucks, conversions, limos, RVs, and even marine and aircraft - but these do not date back as far as the auto guide.

VMR Price Guides
Only one of these popular guides is online, the one for classic cars and trucks from 1946-1979. This provides prices by make and model by condition number 1 to 5 with adjustments for special features.
