The following list includes links to associations, organizations, government agencies, Web pages, and other groups whose mission is at least, in part, to assist the consumer in being better informed about the automobile, its use, manufacturers, and any other part of the auto industry in general.

American Automobile Association (AAA)
This is the well-know AAA auto club that provides its members with a variety of travel-related information and consumer information.

Advocates for Highway & Auto Safety
A consumer alliance of individuals, groups, and companies, that promotes safer autos and highways through the adoption of federal and state laws, policies, & programs that save lives and reduce injuries. The site contains a collection of data on highway safety legal info including specifics for all 50 states.

Better Business Bureau (BBB)
This is the familiar organization which is frequently able to provide useful information on dealers, vendors, suppliers, and many other businesses to assist in making successful, informed purchases.

Consumer Reports Online - Cars & Trucks
The GOOD NEWS is that this site provides info from the folks at Consumer Reports Online who are familiar to most of us. The BAD NEWS is that it is available only via paid subscription - currently $3.50/month for access to all of Consumer Reports Online.

Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)
This organization sponsored by insurers conducts safety tests and provides information similar to the NHTSA.

Lemon Laws
This is a section of the very useful Autopedia site. Here you will find general information on Lemon Laws as well as specifics for all 50 states.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
This is the government agency that oversees recalls, crash tests, consumer complaints, and other assorted safety issues. This site has a wealth of information on a variety of topics

In addition, the Web sites for all fifty states and the District of Columbia are given on the State Web Sites page. These Web sites may contain important rexources and links to state officials who may be able to assist you in researching and resolving many issues.
